Public Firing - Terms & Conditions

As of August 1 st 2026, we will be rolling out a new firing pricing structure. Our new firing fees will be determined by the amount of space a piece occupies in the kiln, rather than by how much it weighs. We believe that this is a fairer pricing system as it more accurately reflects the true cost of firing.

All pieces will now be priced per square inch, our new firing chart is available in the studio for your reference.

  • Bisque: $0.40
  • Mid fire: $0.60
  • High fire: $0.70

These prices do not include the use of our studio glazes – if you’re using our glazes, an extra 10c per square will be applied. The standard 10% monthly membership firing discount will still apply across all firings. Alongside our new pricing structure, we will be rolling out new firing forms to assist with processing.

PAYMENT & COLLECTION: We will email you an invoice when your items are ready for collection. Full payment is required prior to your items being collected. Payments can be made online via direct bank transfer or PayPal.

Your pieces will be packed and placed on the collection shelf outside of the studio doors. If you are unable to collect your work within 2 months of the invoice date, please let us know ASAP. Otherwise, due to limited storage space, uncollected items will be discarded after 2 months.

DAMAGES: Our staff will always handle your ceramics with the utmost care. However, accidents can happen. Should any breakages occur, firing fees will be waived for the damaged piece/s if we were responsible for the breakage/s. We will not be held liable for replacements or repairs. In the event that there are damages to our kiln shelves/furniture due to glaze dripping or clay melting, we will request that you cover the cost of repairs. If you suspect any of your pieces may cause issues, please notify a staff member or clearly note on your firing form, and we will do everything we can to mitigate damages.

Please always check the firing ranges of your clays and glazes and ensure that they are compatible with our firing ranges. If we deem any pieces unsuitable for firing for any reason, we reserve the right not to fire them.

We do not accept Earthenware for firing.

Damages to other members/students works, our kiln and/or kiln furniture, may result in additional charges, including repair and replacement costs.

TIME FRAME: Our general turnaround for firings is 4 weeks. However, our firing schedule is dependent on how busy we are.

During our quieter periods, you may get your work back in as little as 2 weeks. During our busier periods, it may stretch out to 6 weeks. If you have a deadline, please notify us before submitting your firing request so we can provide an estimate of when it will be ready.
