Welcome to Hound Ceramics Studio
Hound Ceramics Studio was founded as a place to bring people together through clay. What began as a personal practice in art therapy has grown into a welcoming studio where creativity, community, and craftsmanship meet. Located in Fremantle, Western Australia, the studio is a space for anyone to explore ceramics — from complete beginners taking their first class to experienced makers refining their skills. Our team of tutors and technicians provide guidance, technical knowledge, and encouragement so every student feels supported on their creative journey. At Hound Ceramics Studio, we believe in the joy of making, the value of learning by hand, and the connections that form when people create side by side. Whether you’re here for a single workshop or an ongoing course, you’ll find a friendly environment designed to inspire.

MEET THE OWNER
Sophia Golovanevskaya
Sophia is the owner of Hound Ceramics Studio and has been working with clay for nearly a decade. Her practice focuses on wheel-thrown stoneware, with a balance between function and form, and she continues to experiment with special effects glazes and surface decoration.
Alongside her studio practice, Sophia is also the co-creator of Guest Pots, a collaborative art exhibition with Golden Panther Tattoo. This project brings together ceramics and tattoo artistry, showcasing cross-disciplinary creativity and highlighting the ways craft can connect communities.
Sophia’s inspiration is drawn from the cycles of the natural world — healing, regeneration, and evolution. With music playing and a cosy studio atmosphere, she finds herself immersed in the making process, often losing track of time. Her greatest passion, however, lies in sharing ceramics with others, creating a space where anyone can learn, experiment, and enjoy the process of clay.

Guest Pots: Collaborative Art Without Boundaries
Guest Pots is an ongoing collaboration between Sophia, Hound Ceramics Studio, and Ali Fisher, Golden Panther Tattoo, designed to bring together the creative worlds of ceramics and tattoo artistry. The project invites tattoo artists to step outside of their usual medium and work alongside ceramicists to create truly extraordinary pieces. By combining clay as a form with tattoo-inspired surface design, each work reflects the distinct visual language and personal style of the artists involved.
More than just an art project, Guest Pots is about conversation and collaboration. It’s a meeting point where traditions of pottery and body art intersect, pushing both mediums into new territory. The resulting works are bold, experimental, and deeply expressive—pieces that carry the permanence of clay while echoing the storytelling and symbolism of tattoo culture.
Through exhibitions and showcases, Guest Pots celebrates the value of community-driven creativity and highlights what can happen when different artistic practices merge. Each collection offers something fresh and unexpected, challenging viewers to see ceramics in a new light while honoring the artistry of tattooing.

Creativity at the Core
We believe clay is a medium for endless self-expression. Every piece made in our studio reflects curiosity, imagination, and the joy of creating by hand.

Craft With Care
We value thoughtful, hands-on craftsmanship. Every stage of the process is approached with patience, respect for tradition, and a commitment to quality.

Community First
Our studio is more than a workspace — it’s a place to connect, share, and learn. From beginners to experienced makers, everyone is welcome and supported.
